Yesterday, in preparation of the City Council voting on food trucks and regulations thereof, a shindig was held in Court Square with food trucks and music. A friend of mine came back from SXSW raving about food trucks - "it's like a fabulous restaurant on wheels." Well, me likey. Yesterday, I had the veggie burger with provolone cheese from the Fuel Cafe food truck. It was quite possibly the best veggie burger I've ever eaten. Here's hoping that the City Council votes in favor of this!
I had heard that there was a man in the airport area years ago who sold hotdogs from a cart. The people I heard this from said that they were the best hotdogs in town. Because he didn't pay city-taxes (I suppose property taxes or some such), the city decided to make it illegal to sell food from such vending carts/trucks and my co-workers thought it was a shame he couldn't do what he loved. I hope the city decides to change this. I heard Tuesday that the vendors were in Court Square, but it wasn't until after I'd eaten the lunch I'd brought....
